Friends of Library Square
The Friends of Library Square needed to create a brand identity for Library Square, a small city-owned park in East Baltimore. This new identity joins the park’s namesake, the Patterson Park branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library that sits at its eastern border, with a colorful mandala in the middle of the park, and inspires new connections with the local community.

The primary goal for this logo was to acknowledge the area’s vibrant culture, unique natural and architectural elements, while creating a sense of local pride and community engagement.
The chosen direction proposed the unity of a book with the flowering plants of the region, specifically exploring the Linden Tree. Modernized versions of 1920s fonts were explored with a goal of appearing learned but still approachable.
The final logo utilized a friendly color scheme that drew inspiration from the park’s public artwork.
Working with the Friends of Library Square, the Southeast Community Development Corporation helped create and install two new sculptural bus stops in Library Square. Using my logo as inspiration, the shelters were designed by the Neighborhood Design Center, and fabricated by Tim Scofield and Kyle Miller.
